As an existing foster carer, we try to make things as easy and smooth as possible for you to transfer over from your current agency to Fostering Dimensions and we welcome enquiries from all across the Midlands, including areas like Leicester, Derby, Loughborough and Kettering.
The first thing you need to do when transferring foster agency in Nottingham is get in touch with us and we’ll have a chat to see what’s involved.
Whether you have a child placed with you or not will not affect your transfer at all, but may involve a slightly different process.
If you have a foster child places with you and you are transferring foster agency, you’ll need to tell your existing agency as soon as possible as well as contacting us. They’ll arrange a meeting to discuss the transfer and we’ll assist you from our end.
Although every case is different, many carers can bring the child in their care with them when they transfer. You should never feel pressurised into staying with your fostering provider because you’re afraid of losing an existing placement, especially if transferring foster agency is something that you’re keen to do.
Support for foster carers is always available and we are on hand to support you whilst you’re going through the process. We will work alongside you and the foster child or young adult you’re looking after to minimise the risk of disruption and routine changes are kept to a minimum.
You can give 28 days’ notice in writing to your existing fostering agency, local authority or trust and apply to foster with us right away if you don’t currently have a child placed with you. After we’ve had a chat and identified if you are eligible to foster, we’ll begin the transferring process. You’ll be supported throughout your assessment and transfer over to Fostering Dimensions. Remember that a foster carer can only be approved by one fostering agency at any one time.
As a foster carer, you have the right to transfer whether you have children and young people placed with you or not. When transferring foster agency, you have to remember that it is a simple process that we are familiar with and if you do transfer we offer a golden hello, so give us a call today.
